I didn't plan on updating the site until the beginning of next week, but I came across the video above on fellow blogger Justice MH's page and I had to post it here. It seems ever since I posted the story on Juanita Bynum I've been forced to deal with my issues regarding christianity, my walk with Christ, and the politics of the black church. This is a very emotional and complex issue for me and to be honest I'd rather not deal with it right now, but I can't seem to shake my frustration at the direction the church is moving and the mass quantity of people they're excluding.

It didn't help that I ran into Donnie McClurkin yesterday in the airport, and we all know how I feel about him and his message. But when I saw this video I went from being shocked to being completely outraged! I have no idea who the pastor is in this video but this bullshit is in a class all by itself.

I honestly don't even know where to start with this one. I'm afraid I'll damage the keys on my laptop from typing hard because I'm so angry! When are we going to stand up as LGBT people and call these bigots on their homophobia or just get up and walk out of their churches ? Surely we'll be missed from their choirs, usher boards, ministerial staff, and our money will no doubt be missing from their collection plates.

Will somebody please do me a favor and forward me the name and e-mail address or website of the minister in this video. I can't help but think about the hundreds of gay and lesbian people, not to mention their families, who were negatively impacted by this wreckless hate speech. It's time to make some noise. I've had enough!

This man, who claims to be a preacher of the gospel, is just plain ignorant! Sadly what amazes me is that people sit in that congregation on a regular basis an listen to his personal biases. Even taking issue with hair styles when Samson even had long flowing hair. And you notice he didn't say anything about Michael Jordan's ear-ring. The pulpit should never be used to promote a personal agenda. And most certainly it should be use to spout ignorance.

@Darian: I know you watch that darian, and was a shame for him to say that sh*t! It seems black preachers find bashing gays as a way of giving new christian values. I thought they were giving up these non-sense sermons when all their doing is hurting people. There is NO truth in what he said!

The Captain will come running with his bullsh*t!

Anyway, this man just need a audience to voice his ignorance, and entertain everyone. Unfortunately, I find nothing entertaining, enlighten, holy, or truth in this!

I came across this post on myscpace and had to put in my 1 cent.

I can't wait for the day that these preachers realize that their personal views are not the words of God. One day these hate filled ministers will wake up and realize they are losing follewers because of thier ingnorance and bias.

They are teaching hate, someething God IS and NEVER will be about!

As if not wearing pink, not getting your ears pierced(Kanye doesn't even have pierced ears)taking the beads out of your braids, and overall butching up will stop people from being gay/bi. What was even more sickening was that the congregation cheered him on, encouraging his ignorance. I hate to think of all the gay kids growing up under his leadership, being taught that if they just "man up" the gay will go away.

This is a joke. He's going off over some earrings, Hip-Hop imagery, and Tyra Banks. If this is the best he can do he needs to sit down. He has gone so far off the deep end he can't even believe the words coming out of his mouth.

Comedy gold.

This does not surprise me in the least. Though, I am not a professed bible scholar I do know in my heart that this man is not speaking the true revelation of God's word. God sends vessels to deliver a message with love, kindness, and urgency. The preacher in the video has what I would term "a following", people who are disillusioned into thinking that the Pastor knows best and who are not willing to be critical of his message. This video is indicative of a trend that does not seem to be on the decline, may we all truly know God for ourselves and the true revelation of His word. Be blessed.

It's awfully convenient that this is such a hot topic. There is little being said about unfaithful men of the cloth, politicians, unwed parents, scantily clad women on Hip hop and r&B videos, the RKelly fiasco and little Ray Jay or whatever his name is, the brother of Brandy in the sex flick with the Eastern European model. It's almost like as long as you're not gay, it's okay.

This preacher and many more know that as long as they have a topic like this that will keep their pews full of terrified "believers" their pockets are secure. I mean that church was packed. ANd I'm sure they promptly collected a healthy offering after his show was through. And what's worse, I'm sure those offering plates were full to over flowing.$$$$$$$$$

Until we the conscientious gay men and women of colour run kicking and screaming out of these churches and demand compassion I'm afraid more like these will come out of the woodwork.

When these so called men of God realize they are preaching on empty pulpits, and spewing to empty pews then and only then will they be forced to change thier hate-filled song.

Hello. I found your web site searching for info. on the Juanita Bynum/Thomas Weeks story.

FYI, the minister's name is G. Craige Lewis. The name of the video is entitled, "Anti-Christ, Superstar." If you order the DVD, you may become aware of so much that you did not know about the Hip Hop subculture and more. I admit that he seemed to be hatin', and probably could have stated his words a lot more seasoned in love; but the Word of God (The Holy Bible) does say explicitly that we should not have same-sex sexual relations (Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13. I admit, it may be hard to accept, but the truth will both make you free and keep you alive (Psalm 30:3). It will preserve your soul (Psalm 97:10). G. Craige Lewis' web site is www.exministries.com. His blog is http://gcraige.blogspot.com/. I feel you on your feelings, but I personally must obey God rather than my body's cravings for something He said is off limits to me. In the long run, it's what has kept me alive when so many of my friends have died over the years from diseases. He talks about much more in the video than homosexuality! I suggest you get it and view it in its entirety to see the full context of his comments, whether you will agree with them or not.

In summary, keeping God's word brings great reward (Psalm 19:1-14). -GoodnameProverbs22

Anonymous thank you so much for the info. I doubt that I will be contributing to Minister Lewis' ministry buy purchasing his dvd's. I could barely make it through a 10 minute youtube clip so I know I couldn't watch him for 2 hours.

I'm also very aware of the scriptures from Leviticus that supposedly preach against homosexuality. Obviously our interpretation of that scripture is very different. I suggest you read some of my other posts to find out where I stand on christianity and homosexuality.

I don't know you so I'm not going to assume anything about your background or your walk with Christ, but I must tell you I'm unapolgetically gay and Christian and my God embraces me as his child just the same. Be blessed!

Its a sad day when our black spiritual become the modern day klu klux klan. it is so amazing that we are lead by such prejudice, small minded, hateful leaders such as this clown. Most of which have become so removed from society that they feel it is ok to preach hate over the pulpit today as white men did in days of old. We teach hate, yet we wonder why so many hate crimes are happening on a daily basis? It is do to us having Grand Dragons not of the kkk anymore, they are grand dragons of the black church. I guess now we are paying to be verbally LYNCHED from the pulpit?

@anonymous:

Leviticus also says you have to make ya mom sleep out in the stable for 10 days when she is having her period, and wipe your ass with the bone from a camel.

How much of that pre-medieval ignorant shit in Leviticus are you really prepared to run with?

Or are you a "cafeteria" Christian?? A Mr Pick and Choose boy?

No, I'm not a "cafeteria christian," but I embrace fully the entire counsel of God from Genesis to Revelation. I am cleansing my way by TAKING HEED to God's words and commandments (Psalm 119:9). The Bible is not just words on a page, but it is the very mind of God, given for our instruction and correction (2nd Timothy 3:16-17). I don't know about you, but for me, keeping His word as it is written has mean the very difference between life and death to me--literally. I choose LIFE, that I, and any who may come into this world through me, might live (Deuteronomy 30:19). Thanks for asking. Thanks to LOLDarian for the space to comment. Love and blessings to all. Um, you sure sound like a Cafeteria Christian. I know one when I see and har their words. The bible is the mind of God??? Hmmm, that's your view, not mine!

Cafeteria Christians like you really need to keep your stone-casting ways to yourself. You can view God as you please through your interpretation of that Book!

Our minds on this subject is NOT the same! You have your path and I have mine!
